July 4th is this Saturday, fireworks and cookouts, what more could you ask for, well how bout some movies that show you what America is all about Ass kicking and in your face explosions and lets not forget PATRIOTISM. U S A! U S A! U S A!U S A! DON'T TREAD ON ME!!!!

Here are some of my 4th of July favorites

The Patriot

Though this movie is full of historical in accuracies, we're not watching it for a history lesson, were watching it to see America kick some major red coat ass, and let me tell you guys no one messes with the Road Warrior!

Armageddon

This one is scientifically in accurate in every way, but once again who cares, famous for its slow motion walking sequence and giant explosions, Michael Bay brings us the world coming to an end and the only country crazy enough to nuke this comet is AMERICA! get some hardcore all american miners out there and they'll show that comet whos boss!

Rocky IV

Nothing is more American then the underdog rising from the streets to become a legend, and there's no greater legend then Rocky Balboa the ultimate story with hard work anything is possible, so who better to face off against out bitter enemies during the cold war the USSR. Leave it to rocky to single handedly ending the cold war.

X-men Origins Wolverine review

I've learned that movie adaptations of writing whether it be comic book or written novels must be just that, adapted to fit the format of a full length movie. Things must be altered and rearranged, what really matters is keeping the feeling and heart of the original source material alive, with that said X-men Origins Wolverine is a slap in the face to not only fans of the comics, but fans of the first three movies that made the franchise so popular.

Story:
This movie seemed more of cliff notes of the story of wolverine more then an adaptation, with brief glimpses of every aspect of his life, this included 5 minutes of his childhood, a couple of minutes of his military history (which was a cool sequence) during the opening credits. He then worked for the organization for half a mission and was part of weapon x for even less time, seems that wolverine is the best at what he does, and what he does isnt really explained in this movie, besides screaming at the heavens and walking away while things explode behind him. This was easily one of the worst bastardizations of great source material.

Special FX:
for a movie with a budget of $150 million it sure has huge gashes in its armor. From terrible prosthetic bone claws to poorly composite adamantium ones, this seemed like a rushed unrefined job. Besides one exciting scene around the middle of the movie which is seen all over the trailer, the other action sequences were snooze fests and complete cliches out of the Michael Bay playbook. Some of the worst harness and string work I've seen in a very long time.

Characters/Actors:
One of the most redeeming qualities in this movie was its cast, though very Hollywood, Hugh Jackman still plays a cool wolverine, Liev Schriber as the merciless sabertooth was perfect, also great performances by Danny Huston as William Stryker and Will I Am as wraith. Gambit was very underused but great when he was on screen. As many have already said and I agree is how under used the perfect casting of Ryan Reynolds as deadpool was, he fit the part like a glove too bad the director decided not to wear it.

Overall:
For how terrible this movie was I wasnt too upset, it didnt match up with comics or the previous movies, sub par special fx, and full of cliches, I still had a good laugh, and I recommend seeing it for cheap as a matinee, or just renting it with friends, but really nothing special.

This is Ragnarok's review of Watchmen, This is Zack Snyder's vision of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons celebrated graphic novel of the same name, and trust me there is not mistaking it, Snyder of 300 and the dawn of the dead fame,has placed his stamp in this movie there is no doubt about that,

like 300 watchmen is a visual masterpiece with amazing colors and grand scale theres no doubt about how great the visuals are, but the narrative I'm afraid did not translate as well, along with the great look, snyder brings his gore filled over the top fight sequences with him, with punches that sound like shotgun blasts and blatantly choreographed fight scenes that resembles the work of a john woo inspired film student.

Don't get me wrong the movie has great moments one of them being the history of Doc Manhattan, In which i think everyone in the audience got lost in and emotionally attached to, but was then ruined by another pop song that was thrown in afterward, the movie was filled with moments that were just lost with a soundtrack that was added in because of specific lyrics that may reflect what was going on at the time, it was a lot like watching an AMV on youtube.

As far as characters go there was great depth in Rorschach, doc Manhattan, and the comedian sadly not as much detailed was given to silk specter and Ozzy, in both writing and the performances given by the actors.

Overall I liked this movie for what it was, the next step for comic based movies, but it saddens me that it could have been a real piece of art if all the gimmicks like slow mo and pop music were taken out. I give watchmen 3 1/2 dog heads out of 5.

So a lot of people call this a heroes knockoff that really pisses me off, mainly because heroes is a knockoff of a million different comics and animes, but this movie is a knockoff of other things it gave me the feeling of Jumper but mainly a complete rip off of Akira and galerians.

Galerians was a PS1 game where you played these kids with psychic powers that were made by scientist and one tries to escape to save his sister, you blow peoples heads up set people on fire great game.

Anyway "Push" stars Chris Evans (the human torch in the FF4 movies) as a guy living in Hong Kong who has telekinetic powers, there are others that have this ability whether it be moving objects with your mind, implanting thoughts into people's heads, seeing the future or in some cases, seeing the past.He meets up with Cassie (Dakota Fanning) who has the ability to draw the future in a sketchbook. Nick and Cassie team up to try to stop a shady government organization, known as The Division, from getting a secret formula that they are going to use to make super psychic soldiers for for the government . The movie also stars Camilla Belle as a mutant who can control people's thoughts and Djimon Hounsou as a determined Division agent who will stop at nothing to make sure he gets his secret formula.

This movie had some awesome things going for it, cool powers, and a thin plot that could lead to awesome action sequences, but instead it tries very hard to be more then what it actually is, as a result there's tons of characters and the story gets incredibly convoluted which in that way it is a lot like heroes. for example certain power have nicknames like movers, watchers, stitchers, there's people that can block powers, others that erase memories, and 2 guys that scream really loud.

overall this movie needed a huge script re-write and it would of been entertaining, instead you get an over glorified sci fi action flick, that causes you to scratch your head and facepalm at certain action sequences IE: floating gun scene.

Rent it and watch it with friends it will be funnier that way - 7/10

Last night was what UFC advertised as the most anticipated match in the history of the sport. George "Rush" St. Pierre VS BJ Penn. Two of the best at the peek of their careers well last night GSP showed that he is unmatched just man handling BJ Penn, take down after take down and by passing his guard and bringing the pain, til Penn had enough at the end of the 4th round.

There was also Lyoto Machida going 14-0 and giving Thiago Sylva his first mma loss, Machida dominated and showed wants more that he deserves a title shot.

One of the best suprises last night and impressive showing was from Jon Jones, who is only 21 years old, He tossed Bonnar around like a ragdoll and what's scary is he's only going to get better.

Overall entertaining but I wish there was more of a fight in the main card

I'm doing a lot better but I'm just half way there, still have surgery coming.

WARNING THE FOLLOWING IS GROSS

For those that didn't know i have a Pilonidal cyst, after 3 weeks the thing goty the size of a golf ball, and Sunday it decided to bust, woke up monday and was leaking the most disgusting stuff ever, a mix of blood and puss that smelled like nothing i have ever smelled b4, i was trying very hard not to puke. I had to hit the ER to stop it.

Took 40 minutes to get to the ER waited there for about an hour, then got stabbed, and drained, after it was drained through my new asshole, the stuffed it back up with gauze, lots and lots of gauze. not a good experience at all, went back home, leaked all the way back.

Headed to the ER on Wednesday again, to get the gauze out, that also very unpleasant wrapped back up and head home, so now i have to call my doctor get a referral to see a surgeon, he will then cut the sucka open and get everything thats in there and close up all my extra holes, phew we'll see.

In January 2009 two of the most famous battles in Marvel's comic book history are finally being brought to life in the sixth Marvel/Lionsgate Direct-to-DVD/Blu-Ray release "HULK VS." Here's a little info on the films included in this release

The full movie will be played for those lucky enough to go to the San Diego Comic-Con this year (and able to grab a seat). The rest of us will have to wait until January of 2009 but we can watch this trailer in the meantime, you can see my last blog with the clip.

I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those 'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the 'divider', looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?' I said to her 'I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today.' She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.

Kung Fu Panda and summer review

So last Fridays releases were Get Smart and Love Guru, giving me the chance to catch up on some movies that I missed. So due to amazing reviews I went to watch Kung Fu panda. From the trailers this movie looked like a rental, but this movie just blew me away, from the amazing 2d Opening to the Epic final fight. I have not been this entertained throughout an entire movie for a while.

This is a hidden Gem within all these giant movies coming out, easily the best dreamworks animated movie and easily one of my favorite all time 3d animated movies, with Finding Nemo and Incredibles. A mix of Jack Black greatness, amazing animation, insane martial arts choreography, and just all round entertainment. Dare I say best movie of the summer so far... yes i dare say it.

1.Kung Fu Panda
Most entertaining movie of the year, non stop awesome from beginning to end, the formula just works.

2.Iron Man
Setting the bar for superhero action movies, amazing over all cast, great special FX and a solid summer thrill ride.

3.Prince Caspian
One of the most brutal PG movies ive ever seen, this was an emotional thrill ride and a better trip to Narnia then the first movie.

4.Incredible Hulk
Great action and a great popcorn flick, plenty of hulk smash!

5.Speed Racer
A testament to special FX in this day and age, pushing the limits of reality more and more.

6.Indiana Jones
A wild thrill ride, a fun ride if you just forget reality.

This list will grow and shift with some big names still to be released.

Incredible Hulk Review

Ill start off by apologizing for not updating much, Ive seen tons of movies and played as many games since last update just have a hard time sitting down and typing all my thoughts, so I'll play catch up as much as I can with the coming weeks. So we will begin with....

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

I'll start off as I always do with the things I loved about the movie.

Edward Norton, looked the part with a more Bill Bixby type of Bruce Banner from the Hulk TV series, there were plenty of tributes and scenes straight from the TV series, including the opening, and several great cameos, as a fan of everything comics and movies it was goos to see all the little easter eggs.

The Hulk himself looked incredible, he was juiced up and ripped, straight from the comic pages, and they gave him both a voice and personality, which I really loved. He was more then an offshoot of Bruce Banner he was a character himself.

Now for the things that stopped this movie from truly being incredible, one of the elements that made Iron Man really stand out was the great supporting cast, sadly the Hulk did not show this, with a dull performance from Liv Tyler and William Hurt, as Betty and Thunderbolt Ross, two pivotal characters in the Hulks life, so it really made scenes with them not believable and just plain flat. Blonsky aka the Abomination wasn't as flat, but really didn't stand out either.

The action was Intense and filled with great choreography for both live action and CG characters. Lots of things get destroyed, the Hulk and Abomination really paint the city in that final fight scene. One of my biggest problems with the Transformers scene was that I couldn't see shit in the action sequences, but the Hulk manages to keep whats happening clear in all the fight and chase sequences, even at night time.

Tony Stark cameo should of been saved for the end of credits and not advertised to avoid the major disappointment of the crowd at the end, I already knew there was nothing there, but I always stay through the credits, mainly to give people time to clear out and to talk to who I'm with about the movie.

The Hulk was so nerfed in this movie, he got his ass handed to him and didnt seem to get stronger the madder he got, he was bleeding and all scarred up, when the hulk has faster Regen then wolverine. He should of got his ass beat then seen betty in trouble and just fucking wrecked the abomination, it was very anti climatic, and hope next time around he really kicks ass.

Pros: Jennifer Connelly and stronger hulk.
Cons: Slow story, daddy issues, CG dogs, Stay puft marshmallow hulk

Lettiers hulk:
Pro: Better look, more action, and more true to the comics.
Cons: fail supporting cast and nerfed hulk

3rd best movie ive seen this summer, and maybe #5 best comic movie made so far.

BioHazard is back

BIOHAZARD Prologue

This is being written for future generations to know and see what occurred here.

No one remembers exactly where they came from,but one thing was sure they were relentless and unmatched. Toppling mankind's once great civilization and using its greatest weapons against them. The great nations of the past fought valiantly, but never stood a chance against their strength and technology. Enemies and allies alike united to fight for a far greater purposes then land and money, but for the very existence of their species, but it was all for not the Invaders ravaged the cities, towns, and farmland a like. Man fought with great valor but with every battle more were lost. So they took shelter into the earth herself, creating great cities underground. Here mankind takes refuge in hopes of fighting back against the domination of the Invaders.

What was once Europe was hit the hardest and is known to be the main operation of the Interlopers. I am located in what now is called U.R.A, or the United Rebels of the Americas. All across this hemisphere there are underground cities which are guarded by soldiers who fight everyday, to keep us safe, but with every battle we become weaker and lose more and more faith, but I have faith, faith in this project, faith in mankind rising again and taking back whats ours. These Invaders underestimate us. I will show them what human kind is capable of. Its greatest technology and greatest minds. This is Operation BioHazard, and it is mankind's last hope.

Iron Man Review

What can I really say about Iron Man, as a giant comic book and movie fan, I would be the most critical demographical viewer. This was the first movie that Marvel Studios had been involved in, so the future of that production company stood in limbo.

So let me begin by saying this movie delivered on so many different levels. Great performances by the entire cast, amazing blend of computer graphics and real props, mixed with a great plot and direction.

The visuals were stunning from the Jericho missile in the beginning to the Iron Monger versus Iron Man battle. The suits were designed perfectly, all the parts were visible and believable, the crash and burn scenes were both comical and very relate able for anyone that works with technology.

Robert Downey JR was spot on, one of his greatest performances ever, from billionaire playboy tony stark, to trying to do the right thing Iron Man, he delivered on all fronts. Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts was dynamic, she was the character and she was the hottest I've seen here in any other movie. The relationship between Pepper and Tony was handled perfectly and so was the one with Roddy played by Terrence Howard. I wasn't sure if he fit the role, but I was completely wrong. Then there was Jeff Bridges who was unrecognizable in this role as Obadiah Stane, the perfect man to cross paths with Tony Stark. What really amazed me is not only how great the supporting cast was, but also how much screen time they got which gave us a chance to meet them all.

The believability of the entire thing was what really separates it from all the other movies in its genre. Tony was real to the audience he was a celeb a boy genius, son of one the greatest minds in American history. The whole time Stark thought he was helping the good guys blow their enemies away, while remaining oblivious to the shady dealings. I cannot forget the robotic supporting cast, from the helper hands, to the surprising robotic Jarvis which was a change but blended in perfectly.

Overall this was an amazing start for the Summer movie blockbuster season, and an even more amazing start for Marvel studios, which has The incredible hulk next and I hope it delivers on as many levels as this did. I give Iron Man easily a 10/10 and a must watch in theaters.

The introduction of SHIELD was amazing, I somehow didnt see that coming as the movie went on so when he mentioned it in the end it blew me away, but not as blown away as I was seeing Nick Mother Fucking Fury at the end, Samuel Jackson was so surreal in the role, it was like he climbed right out of the Ultimates comic book. What was even more amazing then that was the mention of the Avengers Initiative and the many other superheroes in the world, establishing the Marvel Movieverse. Mind was blown and those that stayed after the credits aka the real fans got a real treat.

Well its Tuesday my first day back to work, following this 3 day weekend and I am exhausted, but enough about that were here to talk about the con on Saturday, let me start off by saying that this was HUGE! The crowd, the building the bill, the vendors it was the big time. I had been to really small things like nerd con back in Philly, and medium sized things like Wizard world phily, but this was another level.

There was tons of cosplay which is usually my favorite part of these things so heres some pics of some of my faves.

but the big story besides running into Seth Green on the food court was the Movie panels for me, I spent most of the later day there watching all the panels. I walked in half way through the Wanted panel and found a seat around the back, the Trailer was playing atm, and all the scheduling was pushed up because Battlestar Gallactica ran long. Well as the trailer ended and the lights turned back on director Timur Bekmambetov of Night and day watch fame was there.

He was a funny guy but had a hard time understanding a lot of the questions but one of the most notable questions was a fan who asked about the release of Duskwatch, Timur responded with "consider wanted my duskwatch" Another fan asked about the lack of costumes in the movie. He said, "Can you imagine a super-assassin walking down the street in a leather outfit? Everyone would know he's a super-assassin." The crowd erupted in applause. He even signed a copy of daywatch for an audience member, really stand up guy.

This Panel was directly followed up by the Hellboy 2 panel which began with the Introduction and appearance of Guillermo Del Toro, he was the funniest guy. He began by stating "Now it is my privilege to introduce a bunch of cool motherfuckers..." At which point he brought out Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Doug Jones (Abe Sapien), Selma Blair (Liz Sherman), Luke Goss (Prince Nuada), and "Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola.

Then a trailer made especially for the con with lots of extra footage and some scenes that havent hit post production yet were mixed in there "may see some wires, and green screen here and there" Del Toro explained before the footage was shown. Let me tell you this one looks ten times better and bigger then the last movie. As it ended the crowd roared in excitement, and the lights turned on to reveal monsters an creatures from the film on stage, it was an awesome surprise.

This one really freaked me out.

Del toro was awesome, everyone question was answered with a hilarious yet informative remark, he spoke a lot about how hard Hollywood studio work was and how much he enjoys making his own films instead, he described as trying to draw a picture as 10 people are holding your drawing hand. He continued to talk about His next project is one he created called "Saturn and the End of Days."

"It's about a kid named Saturn who is watching the Rapture on the way back and forth to the grocery store." The director further clarified, "It's how a child views this craziness while trying to take care of everyday errands."

Another question was about his hatred of CGI and he explained, "I don't hate CGI, but I hate ‘lazy CGI.' If you're doing CGI when you can do it live, then fuck you."

Others began to ask about how he creates the creatures and internships Del Toro wanted fans to know that if they are interested in design, there will be a book coming out for "Hellboy 2" which will include all the used and unused designs. As a matter of fact, one of the director's favorite designs was of a "giant three-headed ball-licking dog," but unfortunately, it didn't make it into the movie. At the con, he did promise to post design sketches of it on the internet this week in honor of an aspiring fifteen year old filmmaker who was in attendance.

Guillermo stole the show there were no real questions for the other members of the panel Selma Blair looked like she was going straight to sleep, there was a question for Doug jones about Silver Surfer and he replied by saying it comes true and he would be up for it.

The panel then concluded shortly after this, but before we sign off, here is one more quote from the humble (and entertaining!) director:

NYCC Audience Member: You're great and such a huge inspiration.

Del Toro: Thanks. Jenny Craig said the same thing.

They also gave out 2000 movie posters out front and I went home with one of them.

Next was the Incredible Hulk panel the above pictures are of the awesome statue that marvel had on display by their booth, it was stated that these would be placed in theaters around the country for the movie June 13th release date which those present agreed the date was creeping closer and closer with each passing day.

Those present were producers Gale Anne Hurd ("Terminator") and Kevin Feige (of Marvel Studios), director Louis Leterrier ("The Transporter"), and actor Tim Roth ("Reservoir Dogs"). Roth spoke about his character as people screamed quotes from reservoir dogs from the audience, Roth further explained of his character, "He's a soldier whose body is giving out on him. Becoming the Abomination is his solution."

In addition to a different villain in this Hulk film, Feige indicated that the movie would be going for a different tone. "We want the Hulk to be a hero this time," he said. Then a clip from the movie was played some CG wasnt completed in it, but let me tell you it looked amazing , hulk taking on the human version of Roths character, It was an amazing scene that has completely changed my mind about this movie.

The panel then opened things up to the audience. One of the first questions created an interesting back-and-forth with Leterrier.

"Does the Hulk talk in this movie?"

Leterrier: "What would you like him to say?"

"You know - ‘Hulk smash puny humans.'"

Leterrier: "That's a good idea. We should use it."

At this point, Leterrier smiled and explained that his main exposure to the Hulk growing up was through the TV show; so to him, there was only one Hulk...

This was the cue for Lou Ferrigno to walk out on stage to thundering applause from the audience. It was then revealed that Ferrigno had a cameo in the movie, and it's a respectable one,

Leterrier said, "I hate cameos where people stop by, wave, and leave. I wanted to give Lou something to do. I think you'll like it."

Then the director had some fun with his muscle-bound idol, and told him, "Oh, by the way, you've been cut out."

Ferrigno merely smiled and said, "I'll see you backstage."

It ended with the Official Hulk trailer that will air with Iron Man's release on May 2nd. but everyone was treated to a HUGE surprise with a clip at the end of the trailer, where General Ross (played by William Hurt) is drinking in a bar. Robert Downey Jr. appears as Tony Stark and walks over to him. After some witty repartee, he says to Ross, "I hear you have an unusual problem."

"You should talk," Ross responded.

"You should listen," Stark replied.

The clip ended and all Marvel fans in the audience cheered loudly as the panel concluded.

Next was the full length trailer for the speed racer movie which was introduced by the creepy little fat kid from the movie, but the real surprise was when CEO of DC showed up and premiered the full length Dark Knight Trailer, which will not premiere for another 2 weeks, It had more Batman and Harvey Dent in it, but was still too brief for me, but I think thats Actually good. I still cant wait, the crowd erupted before and after the Trailer. Now that the Intermission was over it was time for the main event, The Spirit panel.

At this point I was in the 3rd row and was able to take pictures at hand was writer/director Frank Miller, star Eva Mendes and producers Deborah Del Prete and Michael Uslan to talk about the upcoming big screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s “The Spirit,”

MTV’s Kurt Loder moderated the “Spirit” panel, and touted Will Eisner as one of the pioneers who invented modern comics as we know them.

Loder asked Miller how he arrived at the look for the film. “I threw out everything Eisner did,” Miller joked. In all seriousness, “I knew if I erected a rusty monument to ‘The Spirit,’ [Eisner] would rise from the dead and strangle me.” Miller was determined that the “Spirit” movie would be as bold as the source material was when it was first published in the ‘30s. The visual look of the “Spirit” film is the natural extension of the look pioneered in the “Sin City” film, which Miller thinks lends itself to Eisner’s story. “For purists, it may be a bit of shock,” Miller admitted.

Miller, who is still new to directing, said he never would’ve guessed that working with actors would be his favorite part of the process. “This cast blew my mind,” Miller said. “I’m certain to direct more films in the future.”

Uslan, whose personal comic book collection numbers more than 60,000, first started talking to Will Eisner about the “Spirit” movie 14 years ago. Uslan touted Eisner and Miller as “two geniuses of graphic arts,” and said that Miller was the perfect person to bring “The Spirit” to the big screen.

Mendes admitted to being trepidations about working with the burgeoning director. “Is he gonna be weird?” Mendes had mused. “He was very weird,” Mendes confirmed, “But we love that. He is such a visionary.”

Mendes loved the look of “Sin City,” and was thrilled that Miller would be bringing that sensibility to “The Spirit.” And after meeting Frank Miller, it didn’t take her long to realize that the writer/director was contributing as much substance as he was style. “He is an amazing actor’s director,” Medes said. “He was referencing movies I didn’t know.” To sum up the experience, Mendes said: “I mean, he’s Frank Miller, right?”

Miller cited one scene in which the Spirit moves across the top of a water tank, but stumbles just a bit in his attempt. “That’s for you, Will,” Miller said. “That’s the Spirit.”

Miller’s decision to cast a relative unknown in the titular role was a calculated one: he wanted audiences to know him as the Spirit first. Miller was tremendously impressed with star Gabriel Macht’s ability to carry a scene with Scarlett Jonhansson and Samuel L. Jackson. “Hollywood produces a great many terrific male actors, but Hollywood produces very few men,” Miller said. “Gabriel was able to fill the trenchcoat just fine.”

Loder said that the “Spirit” comics were populated with a plethora of hot babes, and asked Mendes if was the roll she played in the film. “Hell no,” the actress replied. “I play a jewel thief, a badass chick who’s been married 15 times and killed every one of her husbands. Does that sound like just a chick? I’ll kill you right now.”

Then Miller introduced the first ever teaser trailer of “The Spirit,” which depicted Will Eisner’s iconic hero leaping from rooftop in Central City, his red tie fluttering in the wind against the otherwise black and white landscape.

Then came the fan questions, tons of guys ran to the Mic, I could of made it from how close I was, but really didn't have any questions,some idiots just went up there and tried everything up to and including asking Mendes for her phone number. She replied by saying 555-5555. Thankfully there were some real questions as well.

One fan asked Miller about the future of the “Sin City” film franchise. “I’ve written part 2 of what I see as a trilogy,” Miller said. “That said, I’m allergic to discussing production plans. I don’t believe a movie is real until the censored version comes out on CBS.” But Miller confirmed that the script for the second installment of “Sin City” was completely finished, and that the story for the third was currently germinating in his head.

A fan asked Miller if he was a fan of any current comic book artists. Miller cited Jeff Smith, Jim Lee, David Mazzucchelli and James Kochalka. “Kochalka’s work makes me feel like I did when I was 6 years old,” Miller said. “He brings the joy back to comics.”

When asked if the “goddamned Frank Miller” a reference to the now classic quote from “All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder" was working on any new comic projects, Miller said he’s sitting on 122 pages of this next graphic novel, which he hopes to finish up over the coming months.

And would the “Daredevil” veteran ever consider revitalizing the man without fear’s film franchise? “They’ve got my phone number,” Miller said.

One fan asked Miller about the casting of Samuel L. Jackson as the Octopus. “Sam Jackson was my first and only choice for the Octopus,” Miller said. In Eisner’s “Spirit” comics, our glimpses at the Octopus were limited to shots of the character’s distinctive white gloves, but Miller thought that would be tedious in a movie, so Jackson fans can expect to see more than just the actor’s hands. “Working with him was like working with a nuclear weapon,” Miller said. “I told him to only go off twice in the movie.”

Loder asked the filmmakers how much was left to do before the film was ready for release. Prete said that out of the film’s 1,784 special effects shot, only about 20 had been completed. On a film shot entirely on green screen, “the post process is big,” Prete said. “We have a long ways to go.” That said, “The Spirit” is current slated for release in January of 2009.

Overall it was an amazing time and I will definitely get the 3 day pass next year.

Well lets start off with saying that the blog is usually reserved for comic book, movies, TV, etc, but theres an incident that occurred a couple of weeks ago and its getting exposure on both the internet and the news a like and this is subject that really tears at me every time i read or see something about it.

What I'm talking about is the beating of a 16 year old girl by a group of former friends because of some comment left on their myspace or facebook.

Lakeland, Florida - The Polk County Sheriff's office released the video of a teenage girl who, as Sheriff Grady Judd puts it, was "lured so her friends could beat her."

The video shows what Judd says is the second of five beatings the 16-year-old received from people she knew. The attackers say they were upset with so-called "trash talk" the victim posted on her MySpace page, and they say they wanted to post their own video of the beating on MySpace and YouTube.

The sheriff says the victim was first beaten unconscious in a bedroom. When she awoke, she was on a couch in the living room, where the screaming and beatings continued.

"It is disgusting that the attackers find it funny and want to post something on the Internet showing someone nearly beaten to death," says the victim's mother.

Sheriff Judd is calling it one of the most disturbing videos he has seen in a long time and he hopes all those arrested will be tried as adults. They face charges ranging from felony battery, false imprisonment to kidnapping. The sheriff says the attackers "were relentless."

Even though those involved could face prison time, Judd says the teens showed no remorse after their arrests.

"When they were in a holding cell, they were all laughing," Judd says. "One of the teens arrested, who is a cheerleader, asked, 'Does this mean I'm going to miss cheerleading practice tomorrow?' The others were cutting up and said, 'It looks like we won't be going to the beach this weekend.'"

While the attackers can laugh off the incident, the victim's mother certainly can't.

"You never think it will happen to your family," she says. "To have this happen and see it... is hard to bear."

So heres my 2 cents, these girls are more then old enough to be tried for adults, I hope that the gender issue does not come into play in this incident at all, especially with a male judge most likely taking the case, because you know if this were boys doing this, no one would hesitate throwing the book at them. There is no justification for a group beating like this. If these girls were as tough as they say they are they'd fight some where in public and not have to lure her to a private location where she was out numbered.

Now what I cant agree with is the parents view of this, they seem to strictly blame the internet for the incident. Now thats a crock of shit, I know they're upset and feel helpless but heres some news for them, these girls would have done what they did if myspace or youtube did not exist and those sites do not condone or support videos like this. Heres some copypasta and video of the parents crusade against the internet.

"These Web sites are creating a space for criminal activity, beating, fights," Patrick Lindsay said. "MySpace, MTV's 'Jackass,' they are enticing our children and desensitizing out children. Now, if they create the best shock video, they are the heroes. They think it is top dollar."

"Just the shock of it happening to you and seeing your daughter in a deformity, that was horrific," Talisa Lindsay said. "It's very emotional."

Rubbing his wife's back as she tried to gain her composure, Patrick Lindsay vowed to get justice for their daughter.

"I'm very upset with these Internet sites," he said. "As far as I'm concerned, MySpace is the anti-Christ for children. I'm going to carry this as far as I can."

These parents like most parents no nothing of the internet and need to do some research before they make these claims, I do agree that no ones child deserves what happened to their daughter, I have younger sister around that age, and I cant imagine how I would react if something like this would happen to her. The blame should be strictly on these girls and the parents.

A producer for Dr. Phil posted the $33,000 bail for Mercades Nichols tonight. Mercades was the alleged "ringleader" for the 8 teens who were involved in beating another teenage girl until she could not see or hear in one ear. The teens taped it, and it was brutal. Click here to see it. Out of all the scum bags the producer picked the worst one, and set her free. On the way out he claimed Dr. Phil’s show had exclusive rights to the Mercades’ story. She may have a problem telling her story however, since a judge has a strict gag order in place which won’t even allow the Sheriff to talk to the media.

So about 2 years ago my first character created in CoH reached level 50. The name was Red Chastity the date was 8-03-2006. Dark Melee/Regeneration scrapper.

Now created by my roomate who I shared this account with created a character Her name was Gentle Storm an Empathy/Electric Defender, he got her to level 20, and so I continued the legacy.

I played many characters and got them to the 30's, but I finally got Gentle Storm to 50 herself the date was. 4-06-2008 and here was the moment

So with my handy new scanner, I plan on scanning in some awesome things that I found in my week of comics. So for this week we have Thor #7, Incredible Herc #115, and Fantastic Four #555

Thor #7

So this weeks Thor,we find our hero weakened after unleashing all the gods from they're mortal coils all at once. He must now enter the odinsleep in order to regain his strength, while inside he finds Odin battling the demon that killed him. Here Odin explains his history to thor including the death of his father.

I'm loving this series and it delivers every week now to see where this will lead, now that Loki has returned and who knows how many more evils were unleashed along with the good.

The Incredible Hercules #115

In this weeks Herc, which is not a regular read of mine, but I had to pick up because of a godly epic battle that occurs in this weeks pages. So Amadeus Cho has taken down all of SHIELDS ships and commandeered one of their oldest ones as retaliation for SHIELD killing his family and injuring his pup, so SHIELD sends ares to take care of business which leads to an Epic battle between Ares and Herc.

After an epic struggle Herc pwns ares, and Herc talks Cho out of destroying SHIELD in a ver heart felt moment, so now they head to see Athena which will lead to him gathering the Gods of earth to battle the skrull god, cant wait.

Fantastic Four #555

This book I picked up because of both recommendation and the amazing team of Millar and Hitch. So in this weeks Issue Reeds college girl friend returns to the picture and tells him secret information about a new planet earth being constructed to replace the one that we have destroyed and there is no chance to reverse the side effects and in about 10 years it will be uninhabitable. So read has signed up to help and puts his relationship with suzi on the rocks even more then it already is, this new world is meant to have no guns and would be regulated by a robot names CAP, but cap heard of the dangers of the current world and now it is on the loose.

This was a pretty awesome week, but this week coming up will be Avengers week, and with Secret Invasion on the horizon, a lot should be unraveled.

Box Office and Doomsday

Seems we have the first big movie of the year, with Horton hears a who scoring in this weekends box office with an estimated $45.1 million. The biggest opening of a slow year so far. This movie has plenty to bring audiences in.

1. The Dr. Suess name

2. Jim Carrey and Steve Carell

3. Jo Jo the emo who, which DA has made a superstar.

No movie even came close this weekend, especially the movie that I ended up seeing, which was Doomsday placed 7th this week lol.

What more can I say about Doomsday that hasn't been said just by looking at the previews. It was 28 days later, in that a disease was rampant in Britain and a whole section was quarantine and left for dead. It was Mad Max in that inside this area it turned into a post apocalyptic future where punk rockers ruled, and Underworld because there was a British female lead with extraordinary fighting prowess and skin tight clothes.

Don't get me wrong I had a great time watching this cheese fest of an action movie, from the exploding cars for no reason the awesome video game type environment and the ludicrous action sequences, but it isn't getting any more then that. Also this chick was awesome looking too bad she died early on.

Hulk Smash

New Hulk trailer is out and im loving the design of both the abomination and the hulk himself, in my opinion Norton looks great as more of an Ultimate Bruce banner. The hulk looks great the green is more realistic then the last movie hes more intimidating instead of cute like in the last movie.

Now for my problems, The trailer itself was lame, the build up was annoying the fading in and out at before revealing the hulk, also banner splattering b4 transforming would have killed him, I believe in the Ultimates comic which is where that scene derives from Banner was forced to transform and was transforming before he struck the ground.

Just editing problems and lack of good voice overs and music is what made this less memorable then both the Dark Knight and Iron Man trailers.

The Abomination looks awesome and a great improvement from the comics and really true to his name, instead of the monster from a lagoon. He's also huge a formidable opponent for the hulk.

So I hope the full trailer that is surely to come will be more memorable and better cut together.

March Madness

Well as you can probably see I added some cool new stuff on the side you can now see my latest deviations and under that my most popular ones.

So for March we've been doing sketch a day at the faction boards so I though I'd post what the month has had so far.

MARCH 1st I found myself at Bryant park NYC drawing some comrades from across the park.

MARCH 2nd brings us a piece called burning angel wings to dust. I cleaned it up on DA but I hope to make this into an epic piece. Add some color and maybe a character inflicting the damage we'll see where it goes.

MARCH 3rd brings us many genres and styles of rock music, might elaborate more on some of these at a later point. Maybe a comic mock comic cover in the works for the Emo Avengerer a City Of heroes character of mine.

MARCH 4th had a poll out for which movie I should watch and There will be blood won, Daniel Day Lewis was amazing, so here were some sketches of blood, and a character which i loved from Gangs of New York. Bill 'The Butcher' Cutting.

MARCH 5th been watching a lot of both fight quest and Human weapon and sketched up some Muy thai boxers and shaoling monks, which were great episodes from both shows.

This is it for now though I have more sketches to this day I'll add them tomorrow. Hulk Trailer this week, im excited to see how that goes but for now there is this

Oscar Night

Well the Oscars were last night for a movie nut like me, this is our superbowl, too bad last night wasn't as exciting as this years superbowl. It all began with a montage of poorly composited movies from the last 80 years, it looked very rushed and unrefined.

So they brought back John Stewart this year despite his failure of a couple of years ago, nice to say that he topped the fail that was last year, the jokes were bland and he couldn't help but to sneak in and out of political humor. I really wished Ellen was back I thought she did a magnificent job hosting last year, but I assure you this is the last time we see Stewart helming the show.

Now for the important part, the winners of course some great suprises and some not so great ones. Diablo Cody taking the best original screenplay nomination was great , classic example of why this country is amazing this girl goes from stripper to academy award winning screenplay writer for the film Juno which was the underdog in every category.

The Bourne Ultimatum sweeping most the technical awards such as

Best Sound Design

Rattatoille won best animated full length feature as predicted, brad bird winning his second Oscar, quite a character he is.

Sweeny todd takes best art direction, which i guess is fine it was a very good looking movie, but what isn't fine is Golden Compass taking best visual effects beating out both transformers and PotC at worlds end.

La Vie en Rose a movie ihave never seen won 2 for best Actress and Best makeup. Once which is highly recommended by many has won best original song despite enchnted having 3 songs in that category, there was a great moment when Marketa Irglova was cut off by the music and didn't get a speech, so after the break they brought her back in, the classiest thing all night.

Atonement won for best original score as if not to go home empty handed, also Elizabeth the golden age winning for best costume and winners for supporting roles were Tilda Swinton for Michael clayton, she is a great actress and very creepy and Javier Bardem for no country for old men, he was great in this role.

As for best actor in a leading role Daniel Day lewis took it for there will be blood, no one else stood a chance Lewis was amazing in this and every role hes in, he truly is one the greatest method actors of our day. There will be blood also went home with best Cinematography.

But the big story of course is the Coen brothers sweep of all the major categories, Best adapted screenplay, directing, and movie of the year for No country for old men. These men shit gold, with past Oscar winners like Fargo and Oh Brother where art thou, no country for old men does not disappoint.

Overall it was bland and predictable and most likely a rushed job due to mainly because of the strike just ending and disappointing for the 80th anniversary, too many fucking montages and the musical numbers were very painful. Well heres to next year.

This was a fun idea for my 3000 page view mark on my DA site, its really not that much in realm of some artists on the site but it is for me, especially considering more and more people are getting to see my work. Also haven't drawn for several weeks and was losing my edge this came out just as i hoped so for that i am glad.

Watched Golden Compass this week and it was more disappointing then I could have imagined, the trailers lead me to think it wasnt anything great, but it was preachy, full of expesition every character had to show up and tell you their back story, which just drove me up the wall, boring at times and then rushed at others, it was quite a mess of a screenplay, wait for DVD if you really want to see bears fighting, because thats all that was enjoyable.

Well next week i hope to end the year with I am legend, lets hope it doesnt disappoint.

So as you can see I'm hella busy, especially since I'm working on my first entire flash website, we'll see how that turns out.

God i hate the spelling of Wednesday. I mean why is it so hard and confusing, when all the others are so simple.

Anyway there was almost a fight in the train this morning man that would have been pretty cool, and dangerous considering how packed it was. Had my headphones on so I only heard what was going on when I saw everyone looking in one direction. There was these two kids maybe somewhere between 14-16 years of age, one a fat black kid, the other was a skinny wigger friend. Well turns out that they were talking loud, or maybe just incredibly in appropriate, cause this guy had enough. All I really heard was "STFU, I'm sick of hearing this shit every morning" Needless to say they quited down.

This guy was maybe in his 30's bald, tattooed maybe 6 ft tall 230lbs, and very angry.

Some ppl were smiling and trying not to lol, cause this guy looks like he would punch a baby others were annoyed, and just a few looked scared, those were most likely not from around here. Read the rest of this story and my thoughts here. ALPHA COMMUTER.

Well that was todays small adventure lol. Anywho won this week in Fantasy football bringing me to 3-3, still 7th in the league, but I'm catching up. Changed my team name from Mclovins, to the Underdogs a couple of weeks ago, cause my projected scores are always lower then my opponents.

Last night I watched Half Nelson, "An inner-city junior high school teacher with a drug habit forms an unlikely friendship with one of his students after she discovers his secret" This movie had one the best young actors out there, in Ryan Gosling. This movie was a bit slow, but it was Indie, interesting story, worth a pick up if you like this kind of thing. I give it a 7/10. Heres the trailer.

Oh NBC's heroes, as a comic book fan Im almost obligated to watch this show, but wow this show is so ridiculous.

1. Why is this show called Heroes when they hardly do anything Heroic? maybe cause x-men was taken?

2. It's friggin soap opera (and it seems that their budget for VFX is cut in half, at least) I mean look at those flying scenes >_<

3.How does West not know what Claire's dad looks like after spying on her for what seems like a week or so?

4.whats with sylar and cockroaches.

5.how the hell did Kensei get his powers? He seems surprised that he healed after being shot by a few arrows, did he live in a bubble his whole life? They just suddenly, out of fucking nowhere, manifest their powers. Some have them when they're kids, others only get them when their in their mid 30s, are over weight and married to a nagging wife.

6. Finally the black girl with the taskmaster/ echo powers is awesome.

Case of the Mondays

Man the weekends go fast. Its Monday morning and I am dragging. Also wasn't very productive this weekend, Just to damn lazy to do anything, no shopping, tried to paint that failed, and was not in the mood to write. Oh well.

Read astonishing x-men volume 1 and 2. Man such a great series, some of the best x-men writing since the beginning of the ultimate x-men series. Such a great team.

Started 30 days of night, its a really quick read but its great, I LOVE the art, it really makes the novel. Also hyped cause the movie is coming out this weekend and it looks great. Check out the trailer.

Well this was done for the first official art attack themed competition this week on the Boards. I love the Ideas of small kids with golem pets, I know I wanted one as a kid. Going to throw some colors on this at some point soon, I know it would really make the piece. I hate drawing kids so I just go with a really cartoony interpretation.

Astonishing x-men volume 2 came in yesterday, of course before volume 1, not like it matters I read most of it on the way to work today. What a great series and one of the best x-men team up ever. Wolverine, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Beast, Colossus, and Kitty Pride. Can't wait for volume 1 to come in, and 30 days of night as well.

Well I didn't wait for the weekend instead I decided just to head out of work a little early and head up to midtown and grab comics. Yesterdays selection included, Runaways, Wolverine, New Avengers, and Punisher War Journal. For those that don't know I read my comics in order, worst one first and best one last.

With that said I started with runaways which has been disappointing, ever since new artist and writers took over, it also hasn't come out in a couple of months. Surprisingly it was enjoyable, despite the massive amounts of characters being introduced at once.

Next was Wolverine, the art in this is just horrible, but the story was decent despite wolverine fighting the angel of death every time he dies, there was also some great dialog between Tony Stark and DR. Strange. And oh yes that cover is so lame.

Punisher war journal, this was a great stand alone, of the punisher trying to get this family out of Manhattan,In the middle of fighting giant bug men. Theres guns that shoot knives and freaken punisher venom suit. All worth reading.
Lets just say that this series has been flawless since book 1. So of course I assume this is going to be the best comic of the week, only to be disappointed. You see that cover, well nothing like that is in the comic, neither wolverine nor simbiotes were in this issue.

I also was reading this on the train and got off a stop early, which just completely blew. Oh well overall a good week though.

Ran into my mom on the ferry this morning on the way to work, its always weird when that happens.

Also read this yesterday and I think it makes a great point, I consider my self religious to an extent and this is why

YAY Wednesday, that means comics, but i think ill wait the weekend til I grab my books, mostly because it tacks on an extra hour to my commute home if I go after work. Especially since I just got payed and will also be purchasing some more clothes for work. Speaking of books I just picked up 30 days of night, astonishing xmen volume 1 and 2, for around 32 bucks, you gotta love amazon.com.

So New York comic con Tickets are now available. Its not til April 2008 but tickets go fast I learned that lesson last year. So get them here. I will be going as Wolverine this year. I've already established all the pieces of my costume it will be around 400 dollars, and growing my sideburns for a couple of months.

Well its Tuesday, which means its going to be one of those very long weeks. Elizabeth the golden age comes out this weekend, but I have no one to see it with, and I have a golden rule never to see a movie in theaters by yourself.

The NY Yankees have been knocked out of the playoffs, which is awesome now I don't have to deal with hearing about them for the rest of October.

Expect the BioHazard chapter III at some point this week, more on that in later posts, all I can say is that its called 11th Hour.

I'm now 2-3 in my fantasy football league at work, im ranked 7 out of 10. Well this is my first time playing this, and I haven't really payed attention to football in about 4 years, also got the last pick in the draft.

Well that seems to be all of my random thoughts for today. Heres a funny video.
